Kill Dragon Strand of Oaks

Strand of Oaks- Kill Dragon

Strand of Oaks played our last Cafe Metropolis show this past Friday night. It made the night that much more special, and his set was incredible. Thank you to every person who came out to support Metro in its last few days as one of the best places/venues in the area. It was truly a special place. All of our friends who have been there for years, and all of our new friends who were also present. Thank you all.

love,

pat

Cafe Metropolis this Friday!!!!

We played our very first show at Cafe Metropolis on June 14th, 2006. We were young and annoying and pretty much begged for them to throw us on a show as an opener. Cafe Metropolis had always been the most reputable local venue for punk shows and we wanted to play there so badly. I think Adam even used the ex-KosMos card. Well anyway, it worked. We played with The Felix Culpa, The Holy Fire, and I believe Amateurs and Professionals (stay six).

Since then we have played many shows there and they always seemed to get better and better. It went from seeing only our friends in the crowd, to seeing mostly friends in the crowd, to seeing a surprising amount of people many of which we didn’t even know on a personal level in the crowd there to support us. This means the world to us, to feel a sense of belonging.

Any time we needed a show, or owed a band a show favor, or had a show lineup we wanted to make happen, Matt from metro was always more than willing to help us out.

At the end of this month, Cafe Metropolis will be closing its doors for good. We are deeply saddened to see it go, as we often referred to it (and test pattern .. RIP) as our “home” venues.

However, we will be playing one more show here before it closes. Fittingly it will be with some of our closest friends in the world (and somewhat non-fittingly, but almost fittingly, and kind of funny, the singer of the Slackers). The info for this show is as follows:

Friday, September 17th
TIGERS JAW
VIC RUGGERIO (from the Slackers)
KITE PARTY
STRAND OF OAKS
THESE ELK FOREVER
THREE MAN CANNON
Doors at 7pm, show at 8pm
$10 at the door - All ages

please come support a venue that has supported us! Cafe Metropolis is one of the last great local venues. let’s see it off together!

i’d like to extend a special thank you to Matt Zavacky for helping us out with booking there over the years, Donald for being hilarious and doing sound, Kevin for never failing to create interesting conversation and for letting me in to other shows for free, and everyone else associated with metro, such as Johnny Beefstew and Eric Davis.

october 9th

We had previously announced a show on October 9th in Northfield New Jersey, but unfortunately spoke too soon. We will be unable to play this show, but here are some reasons why everyone should go to this show:

-balance and composure is playing. they have the coolest instrumental parts, best vocalist around, and awesome songs that take full advantage of dynamics.

-daylight is playing. cool people, awesome blend of heavy and catchy music, and put on a great live show.

-true things is a band that i don’t know a whole lot about, but we got to hang out with james corbi on tour a lot and he is a great guy and this is true things’ record release so support them!

in other news, “two worlds” is currently being mastered. release date, artwork, and accompanying info will be announced very soon. the italian festival was cool, but pat and i went to buona pizza anyway, and not the green ridge one, the real buona pizza. we practiced the other day. brianna is showing no spider-esque properties. and finally, three man cannon rules. that is all.
